Currently electronic Braille is the only widely-used form of computerized communication for the blind and deaf-blind communities. Unfortunately, Braille is a difficult system to learn, and a majority of deaf-blind people never learn it. The signing hand would be a welcome alternative.

We hope to incorporate the design of this hand into many robotic areas, including lifelike animations, communication aids, and automated handling tasks.
